Orgazmo and some lyrics

A scene from the movie Orgazmo:

(after two Mormon preachers knock on an old lady's door)
Preacher 1: Hello ma'am, my goodness you have such an attractive little garden here.
Old lady: Why thank you young man, I just planted the flowers last week, my how they grow.
Preacher 2: Yes ma'am. We're from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Old lady: Oh, the Mormons...
Preacher 1: That's right, I'm Elder Young and this is Elder White.
Old lady: Well, you two boys can just fuck right off.
Both preachers: Ma'am?
Old lady: You heard me, take that book of Mormon and shove it so far up your righteous asses that you choke, you soul-soliciting pig-fuckers! (closes door)
Preacher 1: Gosh!

Some favourite lyrics I've listened to lately:

"You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use." from I'm Still Standing by Elton John

"There's a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." from Anthem by Leonard Cohen

"I just want to be there when the morning light explodes on your face." from Love you 'til the End by The Pogues

"So many years since I've seen your face, but here in my heart there's an empty space where you used to be." from Still got the Blues by Gary Moore

"Shadows on the hills sketch the trees and the daffodils, catch the breeze and the winter chills in colors on the snowy linen land." from Vincent by Don McLean

"Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air and feather canyons everywhere, I've looked at clouds that way." from Both Sides, Now by Joni Mitchell

"And she said losing love is like a window in your heart, everybody sees you're blown apart, everybody sees the wind blow." from Graceland by Paul Simon

"I was at a funeral the day I realized I wanted to spend my life with you. Sitting down on the steps at the old post office, the flag was flying at half mast and I was thinking 'bout how everyone is dying and maybe it's time to live." from PS You Rock my World by The Eels

  1. All of the song lyrics are amazing. I've always loved 'Vincent'... Josh Groban sings an amazing cover of it if you want to check it out :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_cdyET0cLM

And of course 'Love you 'till the End' is amazing. Think about that one when you were watching P.S. I Love you the other day? haha :)

  2. Monkeey koo! How cuute ^^ I loooved all the lines from the songs you wrote above :3 all of them have a unique thing :3 (hmm, lately I've been stucked with that word "thing" >-<). And I laughed just.. soo much with the mormon thing haha. Poor guys xD. Here in Chile they usually have a similar answer after someone answers the door. Ñu.
PS: The line from the song of Joni Mitchell made me think about our imaginations haha, I have no idea why ^^ hahahha.

  3. People here usually have pretty rude answers for preachers too Pily, but I think that old lady was especially eloquent with her insults haha ^^
And yeah, you need to have a big kid imagination to imagine things like that with clouds, so that makes sense that it would make you think of our imaginations :)

Heather, yeah that's what put that song in my head again :) It's another reason I like that movie, that song wasn't well-known at all before that and now so many people know it from that.
That's a great version of Vincent! His voice is really powerful. It's funny with that song, I loved it for ages and I always assumed it was a personal love song, I only found a few years about that it was about Van Gogh! haha I was kind of disappointed, it always seemed more beautiful and tragic when I thought he was singing that about someone he loved who killed himself, but I still love it anyway.

  4. mmm very very nice quotes... especially the one from Eels <3 I love them!

I don't know if I told you already about a new artist I discovered, but I'm sure you'll love him to! His name is Frank Turner... let me share some of his lyrics with you!

"So you sort the tunes and I’ll bring the beers,
and on my seventieth birthday I’ll see you right here, and together we’ll watch the sun set.
There’s no one in my coffin, there’s nothing in my grave, I’m tired of being damned, I’d rather be saved,It won’t last so be bold, choose your path, show soul, live fast and die old."

"well life is about love, lost minutes and lost evenings. About fire in our bellies and about furtive little feelings. And the aching amplitudes that set our needles all a-flickring. And they help us with remembering that the only thing that's left to do is live..."

"well music, it's my substitute for love..."

and I could keep on quoting him :p but I guess I made my point clear: check him out! :D
